Axel Vervoordt Gallery

Axel Vervoordt Gallery was founded in 2011 by Boris Vervoordt and is located east of Antwerp in Wijnegem, Belgium. Here, Axel Vervoordt has transformed a former industrial site, the Kanaal, into a unique ensemble of historic buildings and contemporary architecture. The site, originally built in 1857 as a distillery and malting complex, is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Albert Canal. After extensive renovation work, the old brick warehouses and concrete silos were converted into modern living, working, and art spaces in 2017.

The complex features permanent installations by internationally renowned artists such as Anish Kapoor, James Turrell, Marina Abramović, Otto Boll, and Tatsuo Miyajima, which are part of the Axel & May Vervoordt Foundation collection. The gallery itself regularly presents changing shows in its exhibition rooms, offering a varied program of contemporary art in an extraordinary architectural setting.
