The internet is full of inspiration. Every day I discover beautiful art, design, and architecture – but often these little treasures get lost in the digital clutter. With ‘The Edit’ I want to share a carefully curated selection of outstanding artworks, stunning architecture, and inspiring designs that catch my eye in my daily research.
In picture number 1 we see an abstract sculpture by the French architect, designer and sculptor Romain Freychet. The work is composed of two round shaped parts that are balanced on top of each other and together form a vertical composition. Despite its simplicity, the asymmetrical silhouette creates a balanced, visual tension.
In the second picture we see the minimalist side table by Matthew Hilton. It embodies a sculptural design that draws its inspiration from constructivism. By applying the proportions of the golden section, the design achieves a harmonious overall appearance that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. It not only provides an ideal place for decorative objects or vases, but also functions as a practical shelf for everyday objects or even as a small bookshelf.
L Apartment by AD Architecture
The “L Apartment”, designed by AD ARCHITECTURE, reflects a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetics. Located on the east coast of Shantou city, it offers an online streamer of the 90s and his fashionable mother not only a breathtaking view of the river and sea, but also a home perfectly tailored to their lifestyle. The design of the apartment is characterized by a flexible room concept that does not require a classic living room. Instead, the apartment features multifunctional areas such as the versatile kitchen island, which serves as a work surface, dining table and social meeting point in equal measure.
A central element of the apartment is the walk-in closet, which is positioned directly behind a freestanding TV back wall, allowing both residents to use it together. The choice of materials with soft colors and textures of beige, microcement and wood supports the warmth and natural aesthetic that the apartment is intended to radiate. This minimalist yet cozy design offers residents a private retreat that creates a personal, relaxing atmosphere.
Otap Collection by Julien Renault
OTAP is a collection of minimalist tables and benches designed by Brussels-based designer Julien Renault. The focus of the collection is on a clear and reduced design language, which results from the intensive examination and questioning of the production process.
To optimize and simplify the manufacturing process as much as possible, the tables and benches are made from mass-stained wooden panels with a limited number of machined parts. This is reflected in the clean lines and no-frills appearance of the furniture. The result is minimalist aesthetic tables and benches that are versatile and at the same time optimized in their production.
