Alzueta Gallery is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Paris by Nuria Maria (Limburg, Netherlands, 1990), on view from October 15 to November 15 at 8 rue des Beaux-Arts.
The end of summer comes with a familiar shiver – that subtle ache of watching the bright days fade away. Yet through NECTAR, Nuria Maria welcomes Autumn with a sense of wonder.
Nature stretches endlessly around her studio, and every detail of the landscape becomes an opportunity to celebrate the steady, unshakable rhythm of the seasons. Nuria Maria seeks to capture the essence of a fleeting moment — a field of fading flowers, the shifting greys of the sky, a tree laid bare by the wind. In NECTAR, the smallest holds the whole. By infusing her canvases with these ephemeral instants, she defies the fear of nature’s slumber — choosing instead to honor its recurring song.

Her paintings turn Autumn into a luminous rest, a necessary pause after the brilliance of spring and the languor of summer — both a retreat and a burst of color. Autumn, for Nuria Maria, is not a decline but a promise: the quiet renewal of life, the certainty of cycles returning. Through a palette of deep browns, soft blues, and faded pinks, her works invite us to contemplate the subtle beauty of what fades away, to find in nature a reflection of our own emotions, and to recognize in every apparent ending the quiet certainty of a new beginning.
“Let blossom go
Let the time fall
Let the winds go
Into their turns
Let the fall fall
Let it all fade
The Mills of Summer will turn again
Small wings over the grain
The humming will remain
No colour ever truly fades
All the fields we walked before
Will blossom and will fade again
Dry is the leaf you show me now
Black and white the Winters day
No wind will blow the nectar
No blossom nor bloom will ever fall
All the winds
ever blowing
Come again
Deep in Flowers
Winter’s growing
Sews the seed, the Crop, the
Plains
No winds have ever turned against
The mills of summer will again
Show all the fields we walked before”

The Mills of Summer stand for the bee’s wings, the nectar for the future, the repeating nature, the blossom that in Winter time is not visible but lives on. The honey of life, the little workers for the big life.
NECTAR reflects on this – the small and the big.
How the smallest pollen and insects create the bloom and colour of our seasons. But also in every sense of the words: The effect of an action. How the one – inevitably leads to another. Nectar zooms in on the bigger picture, by looking at the small. A show out of deep appreciation for the comforting trust that nature can give, the reliability of its biology, the always returning circles – the sounds, smells and colours of seasons;
the memories we relate to these and the plans we make for the time yet to come.
The paintings zoom in on the smallest biotics as well as they depict landscapes, in full color or in the faded tones of the earthy Autumn season.
