In her first solo exhibition in Germany, Swedish artist Emma Bernhard presents a fascinating selection of new paintings and sculptures at Galerie Nordenhake in Berlin. Bernhard, who has studied painting, sculpture and also philosophy, uses her art to explore intense questions of being and human existence. Her new artworks, which were created through an intensive study of Gilles Deleuze’s “Difference and Repetition”, are characterized by broad brushstrokes and choreographed movements.
All works are made from recovered materials, including wool, paint and steel, which have been discarded because of their previous flaws. The artist gives these materials a new meaning without completely transforming them, allowing them to tell their own story.
Emma Bernhard, born in Stockholm in 1981, combines her intellectual curiosity and diverse skills in her artistic work. She has presented her works in various renowned exhibitions worldwide.
