NS Residence, designed by Michelle Wentworth, explores creating quiet luxury and spaciousness in a small house. A cube within the linear plan delineates private and common spaces and contains a bathroom, storage, and mechanicals. Unobscured sight lines expand the sense of spaciousness. Full-height glass sliders open onto a simple courtyard, extending the interior and visually connecting to the space outside.
A monochromatic material palette blurs lines and adds softness to the architecture. Concrete, lime plaster, and micro cement were chosen for their endurance, texture, and hand-rendered qualities. Linen and woolen textiles in muted hues add another subtle layer of texture. Recessed strip lighting enhances architectural linearity.
