Shift Side Table by Oato

Oato, a Netherlands-based design firm established by Stefan Tervoort and Pim Snijdoodt in 2012, created the minimalist side and coffee table called Shift. Their mission is to transform ordinary objects into striking pieces that combine functionality, emotion, and aesthetics.

Constructed from a single, rectangular sheet of 3mm steel, the table has small segments left intact in order to enable it to be bent into shape by hand. To achieve an accurate measurement, CNC cutting was employed to craft the product with precision.

The double triangle structure, created from the overlapping surfaces, provides steadiness with minimal noise when in contact. Finally, a matte white coating gives the design its finishing touches. The Shift Side Table is an ingenious blend of machined precision and manual control, owing to budgetary restrictions.
