The studio's name is derived from Japanese and means ‘clay’ or ‘modeling clay’, a material which is extremely malleable and easy to shape. According to Oki Sato, the name was chosen as it is representative of a studio which develops design concepts for a wide variety of clients. His minimalistic creations are full of small details and often utilize soft, friendly shapes which make them look familiar to the observer at first glance.
