Layered Steel by Hyungshin Hwang

Hyungshin Hwang, a Korean designer based in Seoul, introduces his latest series of work entitled「Layered-steel」for a solo exhibition. This series stems from his childhood memories of the ever-changing cityscape full of geometric architecture.

Throughout his artistic career, Hwang has consistently experimented with layering materials found in our everyday lives. He often used discarded bricks or concrete pieces to construct his works. After graduating from Hongik University, Hwang produced a range of objects and participated in numerous projects.

He expresses his ordinary experiences and recollections through creating these objects, incorporating his idea of ‘layered series’ into his work. This series has been highlighted at KIAF in 2007 and various additional shows, such as the DMY Berlin Design Festival.
